2025 was the most challenging year Birds & Beans Coffee has faced since our launch in 2008.
It tested us as a family business, as conservationists, and as people who believe deeply that coffee can be a force for good. And we made it through for one simple reason: community.
To our customers, Conservation Partners, the families on the farms and in the forests we work with, and our incredible roasting and shipping team — thank you. Truly.
What “The Good Coffee” Really Means
When we talk about The Good Coffee, we mean more than exceptional flavor in your cup.
We mean coffee that:
- Protects critical bird habitat
- Supports over 2,000 family farms across Central and South America
- Strengthens local economies
- Honors the land, the workers, and the wildlife that make coffee possible
Every purchase helps sustain forests, protect migratory birds, and support farm families and their workers. That impact is real, measurable, and shared — and it only happens because of you.
Looking Ahead to 2026: Focused, Grounded, Committed
2026 will bring its own challenges, but our path forward is clear.
We remain deeply committed to:
- Ethical sourcing
- Fair compensation throughout the supply chain
- Long-term relationships with farming families
- Thoughtful stewardship of the land
- Exceptional customer service — not as a slogan, but as a responsibility
As a family business, Birds & Beans has always felt like an extended family. Everyone matters — from the farmers who grow our coffee, to the partners who transport it, to the team who roasts and ships it, to the customers who choose it.
Our Good Food Friends: Extending the Mission Beyond Coffee
Birds & Beans is proud to be part of what we call the good food business — businesses that take responsibility for how food is grown, raised, and shared.
This year, we’re excited to introduce you to some of our Good Food Friends, starting with two family farms we trust deeply:
- Rancho Largo — regenerative, humanely raised beef
- Reber Rock Farm — responsibly raised pasture-based chicken
These farms care for the land and animals in ways that mirror our own values. By choosing food deliberately, we can create cleaner environments, healthier meals, and stronger rural economies.
In our own extended family, we have omnivores, vegetarians, and pescatarians alike — but whatever our food choices, we prioritize family farms that practice environmental stewardship and transparency. It makes a difference you can taste.
A Thank You Gift for Birds & Beans Customers
This January, Rancho Largo and Reber Rock Farm are offering Birds & Beans customers $5 off their first order.
